The native of Puyallup Washington Butler was interested in the arts while growing as a child. She performed on stage and in school. Following her move from Los Angeles, she studied theatre in The University of Southern California and performed as Belle the princess in Beauty and the Beast at Disneyland for one year and a quarter. When she dropped out of college, she began searching for a talent agency and casting for roles in film and television. Butler played a part in the TV shows CSI: Miami and CSI: NY. Her auditions led to parts in the films A Couple of White Chicks at the Hair Dresser, and the Syfy TV horror film Flu Bird Horror (2008). The actress was a guest on in the year-long web series Luke 11:17 directed by Don Stark. Butler also played a regular part on I Love Vampires, a web serial. Butler won the leading role in 2010's rape-revenge thriller I Spit on Your Grave. This is a remake from 1978 of the film of the same title. At first, she was dissuaded by the nakedness and violence but the characters' development as well as the feminist aspect made her reconsider. Butler played Jennifer Hills who is a writer, and she gets assaulted by a group in a forest. She is the character who seeks revenge against her attackers. The film was directed by Steven R. Butler began shooting the psychological thriller The Stranger Within alongside Estella Warren and William Baldwin in Mallorca Spain during November of 2011.
